In the middle of 18 century two scientists Carolus Linnaeus and Franz Aepinus first observed generation of electric charge with change of temperature from particular materials. Although efforts from Later René Just Haüy and Antoine César Becquerel were not successful, brothers Jacques Curie and Pierre Curie initiated piezoelectric materials with great success. One of big successes in application is until first world war for detection of submarines. One of best piezoelectric ceramics is lead zirconia titanate (PZT) that has dominated the market for over several tenth years since its discovery due to large mechanoelectric conversion. Due to presence of lead in the PZT, all currently used piezoelectric ceramics are toxic and have been prohibited to enter certain countries with enforced regulation. The seminar reports recent work of development of lead-free piezoelectric ceramic that shows high piezoelectricity. With textured-growth piezoelectricity can be further enhanced.
