讲座内容:
The deformation and fracture of mechanically-exfoliated monolayer graphene has been studied in detail. Through in-situ Raman mapping at different strain levels, the distributions of strain over the graphene flakes were determined from the shift of the graphene Raman 2D band. The evolution and propagation of cracks in exfoliated monolayer graphene single crystals and their associated stress fields have also been studied using Raman spectroscopy. The current understanding of the mechanical properties of nanocomposites reinforced with graphene will be discussed and the parameters that affect the mechanical properties of the materials identified. It will also show how Raman spectroscopy can be utilized for monitoring stress transfer from the matrix to the reinforcement. Finally the use of Raman spectroscopy to characterize the mechanics of the deformation of van der Waals heterostructures consisting of stacked monolayers of graphene and MoS2 will be demonstrated where it will be shown that failure occurs through competition between interfacial slippage and fracture of the MoS2.
